Episode # 67: You Do Not Have a Prozac Deficiency - Why Medication Doesn’t Have to be the First Line of Defense
My guest this week is Suzanne F. Turner, MD of Vine Medical.
In this episode, Dr. Turner and I discuss why the common treatments for depression are not always the needed treatments for depression. Depression can be rooted in SO many different health issues that are treatable which is why jumping straight to Prozac and other antidepressants is premature. We discuss treating depression with nutrition, hormone therapy, peptides, eliminating certain medications, addressing trauma, and so much more.
This is not to say that antidepressants aren’t needed at all. They can be helpful for some people however it is more important to treat the potential root causes of depression first, if more support is needed, then antidepressants can be warranted.
